To mark the 20th anniversary of the Continental GT, Bentley Motors has partnered with London-based design studio Forestalgia to create an ultra-exclusive driving glove, crafted from surplus Bentley leather and inspired by the design, craftsmanship and enduring legacy of the iconic grand tourer.
Designed by Emmanuel Lawal, Creative Director and Founder of Forestalgia, the gloves blend archival influences with contemporary design. Developed in collaboration with product engineering studio Areté, the project reimagines the Continental GT's rich heritage through a modern lens.
Reflecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail synonymous with the Continental GT, Forestalgia's glove design features a sophisticated Black Crystal and Racing Green colour palette inspired by one of Bentley's signature interior specifications. Each glove is adorned with Bentley and Forestalgia branding and incorporates double-stitched protective panelling, hand-rolled leather edges and carefully engineered ergonomic perforations. Meticulously handcrafted throughout, every detail embodies the exceptional fi nish that has long defined the Continental GT.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel of the Continental GT demands a level of craftsmanship that cannot be replicated by machine. Instead, Bentley's craftspeople in Crewe use a traditional technique, marking the leather by hand with an ordinary kitchen fork to ensure perfectly aligned stitching. This same meticulous process was adopted in the creation of each Forestalgia driving glove, every pair requiring more than four weeks of hand craftsmanship to complete.
The gloves will be displayed at the headquarters of Bentley Motors in Crewe before being gifted and preserved as rare collector's pieces.
